In 2509, Luna's rebel colonists declared their independence of Terra, and backed up their declaration with the threat of launching huge boulders towards the Earth. Unfortunately for them, the Terran Government's top scientists had just perfected a technique for manufacturing quantum black holes. They built one in orbit, fired it from a gravitic linear accelerator, and skipped it past the rebels' headquarters in Clavius. The intensity of its gravitational field triggered crustal quakes all over Luna. The rebels surrendered immediately, knowing the Terran Government could wreck their colony—because, as their leader pointed out, "The miss is a harsh moonstress." |
