Re: Squawking

Now that we actually HAVE blogs, of course, we now realize Card had it backwards - in the blogosphere, everyone is squawking and no one is listening. I think that one problem that has emerged is that with so many sources purporting to be news and with the mainstream news sources being so incorrect ...

Re: Squawking

I'll have to reread Witch Doctor; it's been a while and I was a lot younger last time I read it. I don't remember Saul's discussion there.

I'm in IT, too, so I agree with much of your post, Screech.

New Venus discovered

I saw this news item today and thought immediately of New Venus in the Starship Troupers series. http://www.rigzone.com/news/article.asp?hpf=1&a_id=122925 Scientists Find Mega-Oil Field ... 1,300 Light Years Away Have our wishes been answered? Scientists have found an oil field which contains 20...

Re: Starship Troupers

Harrison brings to mind the Stainless Steel Rat, which is weird because I never even read those books. Harrison sounds more gritty, and Giles St. John sounds more upper crust or effete. So I guess I'd go for Giles for the good guy and Harrison for the murderer if you did two ghosts. Maybe Giles St. ...

Re: Starship Troupers

Thanks, Ortho. I didn't notice the Harrison/coffee machine issue. Now that I'm thinking about it more, two different ghosts might be better than just Harrison's ghost - maybe Harrison plus a different ghost of an actor. Harrison doesn't appear to be a nice person. He's planning on assassinating peop...

Re: Starship Troupers

Okay, and now I'm really confused and someone else can maybe help me. I just realized that in Chapters 6 and 7 Giles St. John is named as the murdered man, but starting in chapter 8 and to the end the name Harrison is used for the murdered man. Are these the same person or two different people, and ...

Re: Starship Troupers

Okay, I did have another comment about Ramou and his father. It was cool to see them meet and get some resolution, but we don't actually see any of Seamus' reaction to finding out he is Ramou's father. Ramou does run off when Seamus gives Scaramouch as the name for his son, so he may very well suspe...

Re: Starship Troupers

Ideally, we'd like to release the ebook in time for Black Friday and the Christmas shopping season, but to meet the deadline WE NEED YOUR HELP! Very nice. It's great to see what happens with everyone. I just finished reading all the draft chapters. I'll list some typos and comments by chapter if th...

Squawking

Mr Stasheff, I think it was in The Warlock in Spite of Himself, but maybe it was Warlock Unlocked, where you talked about the growth of democracy and how the practice of citizen "squawking" and the record of each squawk was so important to the spread of democracy. While the internet is not...

Re: Starship Troupers

Hello, let me also say that I can't wait for a further installment of Starship Troupers. I, also, know little about the theater, but that hasn't in the slightest kept me from enjoying the series. I'm re-reading the series now, and finally decided that I had to get online and see if I could find any ...
