Re: Cholly and Stealth Education

There were a lot of TV pioneers in the Fifties and Sixties. Now, however, their ideals seem to be fading. as evidenced by the time slots being left for commercials in BBC-America and deutsche Welle TV. The law says they can't sell ads at home, but there's nothing to keep them from diverting the flow...

Re: Squawking

Recent idea arising from all your contributions -- Parkinson's Laws and Parkinson's Disease could both be the force behind the latest attempt of the bad buys to eliminate the clerical Establishment. The working title is TO THE RESCUE OF SAINT VIDICON, and the good priest will join forces with a rabb...

I'll second that. Don't know what we would do without you, Kf6eml!

Re: Cholly and Stealth Education

Back in the Fifties, during one of the periodic attacks on our educational system (maybe over integration), Walt Kelly, in his comic strip POGO, invented the speakeasy schoolroom. Cholly owes as much to Kelly's concept as he does to my father, one of the pioneers of educational TV. Another, as I und...

Re: The Witch Doctor

Another source says that toward the end of his life, Louis became so paranoid that he build an iron cage around his favorite castle. Talk about defensivenes being self-defeating!

Re: The Witch Doctor

Yeah, I think Louis X was a Fascinating character. It helps that he was king when Francois Villon was King of the Paris Thieves (and beggars). If you haven't seen THE VAGABOND KING, tell your local library that they're missing a classic musical. I borrowed Tuan Loguire's mobilization of the House of...

Re: Squawking

Didn't get into Parkinson's Laws too much -- the Spider King is presumably familiar with their effects, if not their wording. Come to think of it, he is probablythe one authority holding the Web together -- but now that you mention it, I really should have him send out spiders to kill worms and stra...

Re: New Venus discovered

Sounds great, and it's great being proved right now and then -- but even when I thought it up, I wondered if the shipping cost would kill its chances. Of course, we could have the crew siphon off some of the gargo for use in transit -- but can we really invernt a faster-than-light rocket that works ...

Re: Squawking

Gotta admit you have a point, Matt. Any human invention can, unfortunately, be used for a bad purpose. There are some posts from serious, thoughtful politicians and their followers, which gives hope. Similarly, I take a dim view of the Internet government channels -- I'm skeptical enough that office...

Re: Starship Troupers

And a very good idea it is, MattT -- in fact, all of them are. I'll think it over for a bit while I work through the rewrites for THE UNKNOWN GUEST, then rough out the action incorporating new material, then add it in. Thanks for your suggestions. By the way, this ranks with Wizard in Bedlam as my m...
