Re: The Warlock's Grandfather

Just now saw that it was supposed to go in an earlier book.

I guess we've seen where the story goes, then, haven't we? ;)

All the same, thanks for sharing it with us.

Re: The Warlock's Grandfather

A good beginning. It will be interesting to see where this goes. One minor quibble. When discussing the idea of spreading snow, Fess mentions that "...it will take a great many cubic kilograms of ice..." "Cubic" is a term used with volume and "kilogram" is one of weight...

Re: Maxwell's Demon

I remember reading in another sci-fi novel; One of the characters disposed of a dragon by organizing all of the dragon's atomic (heat) energy into a single vector. Said dragon instantly accelerated into the ground and left quite a hole. I also heard an interesting experiment that some students are d...

Re: Wizard Required

Right - As the author said, this is only intended to be a short story, and has threatened to become a novella (although I have read "short stories" that were much longer than this one.) We can't expect on of Dr. S's sagas with a cast of thousands on a 20,000 word budget :D Dr. S: In a sens...

Re: Wizard Required

The story seems to be drawing to a satisfying ending. A good piece, on a number of levels. Now the criticism. Charlotte mentions that she would "pedal" her charcoal; I'm sure she meant "peddle" it. Spell checkers don't do context, unfortunately. and in the line: "Okay, then,...

Re: Stealing Time

Story's advancing nicely. Good history lessons - any story that makes me want to read up on history is a good one - and I like the way you can get into the head of a Victorian woman so believably. You're broadening the vista in terms of showing us how many different people are working for the Doc wi...

This latest chapter was pretty good, even to a non-sports-fan.

Re: Uncle Merl's Bar & Grill

Ashamed to admit that I have not been following this one very closely... I have as much interest in baseball as I have in football (American and European alike,) curling, lacrosse, rap 'music,' MTV, Paris Hilton's love love, or Eugene, Oregon. (Or anywhere in Oregon, for that matter.) The concept is...
