Well, it's official.
As of Tuesday, I am no longer a member of our armed forces.
I was medically retired for the back injury (herniated disc) I got in Afghanistan, and am now waiting for the call-back from a civilian company, so I can begin working as an aircraft maintainer/repairer.
I've settled in a small town in Indiana, where I hope to buy a nice large piece of property and grow some vegetables.
Hey. Hops and barley are vegetables. Don't argue.
If the Good Doctor and family are still in Michigan or thereabouts, give me a ring, sometime, and we can have a barbecue and make some noise.

The Good Doctor currently resides in Illinois, which is even closer. If he attends a con in the Indiana area, maybe he can swing by!
Thank you for your service, congratulations on your retirement, and enjoy it!

Heck with that noise!
If he attends a con in the area, I'm going to the con!

Finally settling in to the new abode.
I just moved the last box out of storage, got all of the utilities (including internet) activated, and am now sorting through years of accumulated belongings to decide what stays, what gets donated to Salvation Army, and what goes in the yard sale. (Or the burn pit.)
(I still have a pool table and a few large tents in storage, so the fun isn't completely over. Know anyone with a big pickup truck or a trailer?)
The new place is big enough to have a good-sized garden, but small enough that I can manage it without hiring any professional help.
It's 80+ years old, so plenty of little repairs to make, when I feel like doing something - and the wife and I hate at least one room each, so there are two good "projects" to keep me busy when I need a major diversion.
But the place is pretty nice as-is.
So, that's the news from here. I have been working 50 - 60 hours a week lately, so haven't had any time to play around on the internet, what with work, moving, and other things. Maybe I'll have more time now. (Unlikely, with a baby due soon..... But for the moment, I can have my fantasies.)
