Should we post old short stories too?

Post by Ortho the Frank »

Hi there! When it came to the "Fiction" section of the website, Chris was planning to stick mostly to posting new stories. A recent post by Askyn asking if his novels were available as ebooks, however, got me thinking.

Should we post already-published short stories as well as new fiction? Although some of the stories are obviously part of an ongoing series (that might confuse the reader), many others could work as standalone short stories just fine.

What do you think? Let us know!

My personal thought is always going to be the more, the merrier ... but possibly some publishers may disagree. I manage a website for an author, who has posted on it the three short stories he's written ... but we recently had to remove it from the site for at least a couple of years, because somebody just decided to publish it again.

More things to read is always a great thing, however.

I agree - the more stories the better.

Thank you kindly. We'll start mining the hard drive on my old Powerbook.

Personally, I'm campaigning for "Mind Out of Time", my favorite GRIPE story. It's about 100 pages, so we might have to post it in chunks. Unfortunately, it was last published in 2003 (in a rather obscure short story collection), so we're not sure if the rights have reverted back yet -- in other words, if it's okay to post it here for free. We'll see.
